  Personal opinion on the top 5 established automotive companies that are crafting their brand trough Design.  This is not only about "The visual appeal" of their final products at all. Is more related to their Design process and the "weight" of Design in their corporate decision making agenda. 3 General Motors They used to be the biggest car company in the planet. But then things changed a lot with Toyota and VW Group catching up. A financial crisis came and they where in need to relaunch their product portfolio.  But with a change in management they are now on track of very interesting times. You might think that taking good decisions is a must in every organization, but is no easy to move more than 2,500 designers at the same time to the same direction and provide them with resources and process to relaunch several vehicles worldwide. Personal opinion on the top 5 established automotive companies that are crafting their brand trough Design.  This is not only about "The visual appeal" of their final products at all. Is more related to their Design process and the "weight" of Design in their corporate decision making agenda. 4 Tesla A leading stakeholder in the process of electrifying mobility, Tesla is delivering vehicles with very clean surfaces with elegant and swooping lines giving the brand a clear identity which is praised by the Tesla fan base all over the world. But they are clearly doing something quite good: Integrating new technologies to the driving experience through an user interface never seen before: With plenty of information & functions but very few physical buttons. Their approach to their minimalist interior design is not just an aesthetic exercise, it's based on making the driver's journey more enjoyable without unnecessary interactions with the car's systems.

Is more related to their Design process and the "weight" of Design in their corporate decision making agenda.. 5 Volvo / Polestar The Swedish marquee is now part of a Chinese conglomerate and maybe that's why they want more "Swedish" taste than ever before. When you try to catch up against brands like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz it's very easy to fall in the extremes of your design identity: very over-styled or very generic. Genesis, the brand backed by a behemoth industrial South Korean conglomerate is having difficult days to build a recognizable brand even having access to plenty of resources.
