Personal opinion on the top 5 established automotive companies that are crafting their brand trough Design. 

This is not only about "The visual appeal" of their final products at all. Is more related to their Design process and the "weight" of Design in their corporate decision making agenda.

Tesla



A leading stakeholder in the process of electrifying mobility, Tesla is delivering vehicles with very clean surfaces with elegant and swooping lines giving the brand a clear identity which is praised by the Tesla fan base all over the world.

But they are clearly doing something quite good: Integrating new technologies to the driving experience through an user interface never seen before: With plenty of information & functions but very few physical buttons.




Their approach to their minimalist interior design is not just an aesthetic exercise, it's based on making the driver's journey more enjoyable without unnecessary interactions with the car's systems. 

And like every innovative company, they are entering new markets with products with very unique features. You could take Tesla Semi as an example:

Far from the current commercial vehicles proposals, Tesla Semi it's a one of a kind vehicle with theoretical performance that represents a big leap in the industry.







In the innovative side, Tesla is now approaching to clever solutions. Like their new giant machine capable to produce a big part of an entire frame in almost one single piece: going from 70 parts to only 1. That is going to reduce capital expenditures by a significant margin. 




But having manufacturing improvements is also leading this company to completely new designs... like the polemic Cybertruck.  A vehicle with very small capital and environmental costs thanks to that folded stainless steel skin, a clear effort to streamline the manufacturing process...



... and this interior design, a proposal without compromise. A bold move.. 




 Having a very strong fan base, vehicles equipped with new technologies and a very clever approach to manufacturing are just a short list of concepts that are helping Tesla to rise in the automotive industry as a leading force rather than just another automotive company that sells cars. 














And there are some samples of why I consider Tesla one of the brands with a Design proposal that is helping the company in the hard process of achieving their goals.

  Personal opinion on the top 5 established automotive companies that are crafting their brand trough Design.  This is not only about "The visual appeal" of their final products at all. Is more related to their Design process and the "weight" of Design in their corporate decision making agenda. 2 Ferrari A lot of people often set goals for themselves.
